RV Tips
Dumping Tanks When You Don’t Have Hookups
Sometimes campgrounds don’t have full hookups. This particular campground had water and electric hookups, but no sewer. They did have a dump station, though, so we could empty our tanks using our “honey wagon”. It’s basically a tank on wheels that allows us to dump our tanks without moving the RV. Watch our Instagram Reel to see how we do it.
BUGS! How to Clean Them Off
It’s impossible to avoid hitting bugs while driving all over the country, and then they’re baked onto your rig when you get to your destination. Jeremy learned an easy way to get them off though, and here are a couple tips to help:
- Here’s the big tip: use a wet dryer sheet to clean them off. You can watch Jeremy do it in our Instagram Reel.
- Try to clean them off as soon as possible when you arrive. The longer they sit in the sun the harder it will be.
- Finish off with a dry RV cleaner and a microfiber cloth to get any streaks off.
Upgrades for a more Efficient Refrigerator
Jeremy was actually a refrigeration technician and still works in the field, so when he says we should add something to help make the refrigerator more efficient, it’s something worth the time and money. He explains more in our Instagram Reel.
RV Home Decor
Command Strips. You’re going to want a lot of Command Strips. They’re good for so much more than hanging hooks. The Velcro type are our favorite for hanging pictures on walls. You can see the process in our Instagram Reel.
ALWAYS Roll In Your Awning
Always, always, always roll in your awning when you’re leaving your rig. This won’t guarantee that nothing will happen, but we can’t tell you how many times we’ve seen awnings that blew up when no one was around to roll them back in. It’s so sad!
An Easier Way to Make the Bed
I came up with an easier way to make our bed when using a bedspread. There’s a little tucking of corners and safety pins involved, but it worked well to keep it up off the floor and made it a lot easier to make the bed every day. See how to do it in our Instagram Reel.
Tension Rods: They’re Not Just for Curtains
You know that terrifying feeling when you first open a cabinet after a drive day? Here’s an idea to help. We’ve used tension rods to help hold things in place while we’re driving for years. You can use them in cabinets and even some refrigerators! Here’s what it looked like in our first fifth wheel.
BONUS TIP: We’ve also used pillows stuffed inside cabinets or the refrigerator to hold things in place. It works!
